The 21st Graduation Ceremony – Principal’s Speech
Welcome to the 21st Graduation Ceremony of Po Leung Kuk Ho Yam Tong College. This year’s theme, “Illustrating Virtue, Renewal Daily” reflects our core expectation for our graduates — to uphold high moral standards and noble character throughout life. In an ever-changing world filled with both opportunities and obstacles, I encourage all graduates to remain adaptable, pursue continuous innovation, persevere through challenges, and contribute meaningfully to society through academic and personal excellence.
Over the past year, our students have demonstrated well-rounded development and remarkable accomplishment. In the 2025 HKDSE, 90.5% of our candidates met the university entrance requirements (332A), with nearly 90% securing admission to local undergraduate programs. As the release of HKDSE results approaches in mid-July, I wish all graduates every success in entering their dream universities.
To share in the joy of our holistic development, the establishment of our new A Cappella Choir, the Academic Week themed 'Intangible Cultural Heritage in Guangdong', and our Health Education Weeks have provided dynamic platforms for students to unlock their potential. Even more remarkably, our students achieved international acclaim by winning a Gold Award at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Drainage Services Department, our team earned a Bronze Medal in the Open Category at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. We extend our deepest gratitude to Drainage Services Department Director Mok, Assistant Director Lai, and their engineering team for their professional guidance, from mentoring our students in Geneva to facilitating their presentation at InnoEX, offering them invaluable global insights. These collective accomplishments bear testament to the fact that our students, including every graduate here today, are vibrant, creative, and exceptionally talented individuals whom our faculty takes immense pride in celebrating.
Graduation marks not a destination, but the threshold of a new journey. Whether stepping into university or pursuing other pathways, I encourage you to set clear ambitions for this next chapter and pursue them with consistency. As Xunzi wisely observed in An Encouragement to Learning — ‘Learning must never cease.’ Commit yourselves to lifelong learning, hold fast to your goals, and stride forward with confidence to turn your dreams into reality.
As departure draws near, feeling a touch of nostalgic bittersweetness is natural. Beyond these gates, never lose sight of your alma mater, the teachers who guided you, and the peers who walked beside you. The friendships forged during your secondary school years are born of remarkable purity and sincerity, that often endure for a lifetime. Cherish every companion sitting beside you today.
In closing, I wish all graduates resilience, continuous growth, and every success in fulfilling your dreams. Thank you!
Principal Lo Kwok Leung
